I got Sprenger Stirrup irons to see if it would help my joints when I ride but since they are on a treeless saddle with closed rings I now thought it would be safer to put Barnes buckles on them in case of fall specially since I have 2 other people riding Cracker. What do you think?

Hi Brigitte
with a treeless saddle it is really safer to use safety stirrups. I have just had a look at these Banres buckles - they seem to good just for this case.
If you donīt want tu use special safety-Stirrups, then these things would be a good idea!

The idea of Sprengers is that they pivotte and so releasing your foot in a fall so they are safety stirrups really. What's a barnes buckle please?

They are a metal clip that attaches to the stirrup iron and opens up releasing the stirrup iron if your foot is caught when you fall.[attachment=4107:Barnesbucklea.jpg]
